The brief was to create a sense of arrival with an ambience that is elegant and gracious, yet warm and welcoming.  The hotel is intimately connected to its surroundings and the colours and textures are designed to reflect and celebrate this. Bedrooms and Lodges were updated in a classic but timeless, country house style.

About the project

The hotel had been developed and extended over 40 years, so the challenge was to pull all the elements into a cohesive whole, remodelling the public areas and creating a sense of arrival. To reflect the colours and textures of the surrounding countryside. a palette of soft greys, greens, terracotta, ochre, in wools and linens, runs through the ground floor, with different colours coming to the fore in each area.

We developed a palette of soft blues and greys, reflecting its unique location overlooking the Velvet Strand. Even the bespoke carpet designs mirror the patterns of sand left by the outgoing tide.
